Welcome to The “Democracy First” Campaign —an initiative born from deep reflection, frustration, and a stubborn refusal to give up. and meet the Progressive Dream Team, an All-Star Fantasy political leadership team that guide the campaign effort and help us win the coveted championship Democracy Trophy in 2028.
On November 5, 2024, many of us who believe in a fairer, more just society watched as the political winds blew in a very different direction. The election results all but guaranteed four more years of Donald Trump, followed by the looming possibility of an eight-year Jim Vance presidency, with Elon Musk continuingnas the the Commander-In-Chief. It became painfully clear that a true middle-class-focused leader might be a long time coming.
So, after a few deep breaths, we made a decision: We’re not going to shut up. We’re not going to sulk. And we’re definitely not going to wait another decade hoping for a miracle. Instead, we’re going to do what progressives do best—organize, strategize, and push forward. We still have a voice. We still have the power to unite. And we still have a country worth fighting for.
The Plan
To keep our spirits up and our minds sharp, we decided to add a dose of humor to our activism. Enter the All-Star Presidential Draft, a fantasy draft built around real Democrats and progressives. This is not about who has announced or who has a campaign team, it is about imagining better leadership and asking ourselves what it might feel like to choose a team based on talent, values, and vision rather than insider politics.
On the serious side, we need to act fast. Trump and his allies are moving at warp speed with executive actions and power plays that reward billionaires and corporate interests while telling everyday Americans to trust the process. This is not the time to sit back and say “let’s wait and see.” We need to push back just as quickly and, even more importantly, show people what capable leadership could actually look like in practice. Different choices have real consequences, and the Draft is our way of making those differences clear while giving people a chance to think deeply about their priorities.
What We Stand For
Progressives don’t agree on everything – let’s be honest, we couldn’t even unite behind a single candidate in the last election. Some support transgender athletes in official competitions, some don’t. Some want to defund the police, others don’t. Some think we should continue the war in Ukraine, others don’t. Some want to extend an olive branch to Trump voters, while others would rather push back twice as hard.
But here’s what we do agree on:
- Strengthening the middle class and building a government that works for us, not just billionaires.
- Creating a foreign policy that prioritizes diplomacy over destruction.
- Ensuring the U.S. economy remains strong without turning working people into corporate serfs.
- Living in peace and harmony with our fellow Americans, respecting each other as equals.
- Saving the planet from environmental collapse (kind of important).
- Providing safety, security, and dignity for every American—from birth to their last day.
Our Mission
Since our Declaration of Independence in July 1776, we’ve come a long way in building a strong, evolving democracy. Do we have work to do? Absolutely. But we refuse to dismantle the very institutions we built with our blood, sweat, and tears. We will not stand by while billionaires and corporations transform democracy into a system where they rule and the rest of us become disposable workers. Privatization has its place – but not when it turns free citizens into indentured servants.
Our ultimate goal is to reignite the enthusiasm of politically progressive people and to serve as one more voice calling for unity and action. Together, we can still achieve great things. We can resist policies of the Trump administration that we disagree with, while supporting those we find beneficial. Through humor and creativity, we aim to lighten the weight of political setbacks and inspire others to stay engaged.
So, join us in imagining a better future. Let’s use laughter, hope, and determination as tools to keep moving forward. Together, we can continue to dream, to resist, and to make our voices heard.
